Using the CMF Colors as a Witnessing Tool

This explains the meaning and symbolism behind the CMF colors. They will create a lot of interest from others as they ask you about the CMF and your affiliation with them. Many will ask "what is the CMF?" Others may say something like, "I know a guy in that Christian motorcycle group!" Still others may simply say, "Hey, nice colors!" Whatever the response it will open doors for you to witness to them and tell them about why you wear these colors and what it means to you.

South Central Christian Motorcycle Fellowship wants to tell others about Jesus. This chapter was formed for the specific purpose of giving Christians an opportunity to witness to others who need to hear the Gospel of Jesus Christ. With this in mind we give training and encouragement on witnessing and developing your personal testimony. Here is what we have developed to help you use the CMF Colors as a witnessing tool.

When someone asks you about your colors, respond by saying something along the lines of, "Thanks. May I tell you about the meaning behind the colors." When you get a positive response follow these steps in explaining the difference a personal relationship with Jesus Christ can make.

The red heart represents God's love for us. For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son that whoever believes in Him will not perish, but have eternal life (John 3:16).

God demonstrates His love for us in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us (Romans 5:8).

The black circle represents the sin that encircles us. For all have sinned and fall short of God's expectations (Romans 3:23)

For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord (Romans 6:23).

The white cross represents that Jesus Christ is God's only provision for our sin, through Him you can experience forgiveness of your sins and receive eternal life. The whiteness of the cross reminds us that through Jesus Christ and His shed blood on the cross (represented by the red in the heart) that came as a result of His great love for you, you can be washed white as snow meaning that you are forgiven of your sins and made right before God.

They have washed their robes and made them white in the blood of the Lamb . . . . For the Lamb in the center of the throne shall be their shepherd, and shall guide them to springs of the water of life; and God shall wipe every tear from their eyes (Revelation 7:14b, 17).

Though your sins are as scarlet, they will be as white as snow; though they are red like crimson, they will be like wool (Isaiah 1:18).

In order to receive the forgiveness of your sins you must accept Jesus Christ into your heart as Savior and Lord by faith. When you do, you will immediately receive the cleansing of your sins, become right before God, and receive the gift of eternal life.

Would you like to accept Jesus into your heart by faith right now? A simple prayer shows your desire and faith to accept Jesus Christ into your life. If so then pray along with me: "Lord Jesus, I need you. I confess my sins before you. Come into my life and make the person you want me to be. Amen"

After they pray then ask them, "Where is Jesus Christ right now in relation to you?" They should answer, "In my life." You may need to guide them in this answer and explain to them the promise Jesus gave us in Revelation 3:20: Listen, I stand at the door of your life and knock. If anyone hears My voice and opens the door, I will come into Him . . . .

Now that you have accepted Jesus Christ into your life you will find that this life is not a life that is lived by self effort. Jesus has sent us a Helper, the Holy Spirit, to guide us in truth and give us the ability to live the Christ centered life. The white wings and tail represent the Holy Spirit. This same Holy Spirit who descended on Jesus at His baptism (Luke 3:22) and gave the disciples boldness to proclaim Him to the people in Jerusalem (Acts 2) is the same Holy Spirit who will give you the power to live the Christ centered life.

Jesus promised us this Helper before He was crucified for your sins. And I will ask the Father, and He will give you another Helper, that He may be with you forever. (John 14:16)

The Holy Spirit will guide you in understanding the truth of Jesus Christ. Blue is the color of truth ("true blue") and the blue circle represents the Spirit of truth.

There are many false religions and beliefs that want to deceive you. They are lies conceived by the father of lies the devil (cf. John 8:44). The Holy Spirit is sent to come along side of us to guide us in knowing that Jesus truly is the way, the truth and the life and that no one comes to the Father but through Him. (John 14:6)

As a Christian you will receive gifts from the Holy Spirit to do service in God's kingdom. As you learn to walk by faith and trust in Jesus and be obedient to His commands you will find that you will grow in Him. As you grow in Him you will be refined and motivated to serve Him in His Kingdom. The gold banners represent this refinement process. As gold is refined in the fire, so God's servants will be refined that we will be purified for His service.

I [Jesus] advise you to buy from Me gold refined by fire, that you may become rich, and white garments, that you may clothe yourself . . . . (Revelation 3:18)

And He will sit as a smelter and purifier of silver, and He will purify the sons of Levi and refine them like gold and silver, so that they may present to the Lord offerings in righteousness. (Malachi 3:3)

And I will bring the third part through the fire, refine them as silver is refined, and test [refine] them as gold is tested. They will call on My name, and I will answer them; I will say, "They are My people," and they will say, "The Lord is my God." (Zechariah 13:9)

That the proof of your faith, being more precious than gold which is perishable, even though tested by fire, may be found to result in praise and glory and honor at the revelation of Jesus Christ. (1 Peter 1:7)
